On one hand, wind and solar projects are forced to curtail power generation due to integration difficulties; on the other, chemical enterprises are facing hefty carbon tariffs on exports because of carbon footprint exceedances. Green ammonia is emerging as the key to unlocking both predicaments. It serves as a preferred pathway for "power-to-hydrogen-to-ammonia" chemical energy storage, while also serving as a zero-carbon chemical feedstock that can directly replace gray ammonia, securing carbon tariff exemptions for the synthetic ammonia and urea industries.
